Colombia at World Cup 2022

  • MANAGER: José Pékerman
  • CAPTAIN: James Rodríguez
  • FIFA RANKING: 13
  • APPEARANCES: 5
  • WORLD CUP WINS: 0

Colombia returned to the World Cup in 2014 following a 16-year absence, and absolutely flew through the early rounds to make it to the quarter finals.

Pékerman’s squad will be looking for another successful run in the opening rounds, in the hopes of making it further in the 2022 World Cup.

Columbia have been drawn in World Cup Group H and will compete against Japan, Poland and Senegal to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.

Group H is the most well-balanced and open group in the tournament, and with very little separating the 4 teams it’s could be one of the most difficult groups to progress through.

There may be a lot of talent in the Colombian squad, with players such as Davinson Sánchez, Abel Aguilar and James Rodriguez set to shine.

If Columbia can get them on the ball enough, and Rodriguez shows the same brilliance as he did when he used to play in Brazil, Colombia could do quite well.
