Senegal at World Cup 2022
- MANAGER: Aliou Cissé
- CAPTAIN: Cheikhou Kouyaté
- FIFA RANKING: 23
- APPEARANCES: 1
- WORLD CUP WINS: 0
Senegal are back in the 2022 World Cup after a 16-year absence, taking part in their 2nd competition after topping their African qualifying group.
The only other time they qualified for the World Cup was in 2002, when their now manager Cisse played for them, and he will be determined to take Senegal as far as he can in Qatar.
While this is a tough group, Senegal are a solid team, and the fast pace they set could throw some of their competitors and give them the advantage they need.
Senegal have some world-class players, including one of the best African players and key Liverpool winger Sadio Mane, but how far they'll progress is anybody’s guess.
If they can keep the pace up and not give their opponents a chance, then even though it’s a long shot, they may just make it through to the later stages of World Cup 2022.
