Poland v Senegal Preview

The 2nd fixture in Group H takes place at the Otkrytie Arena on the 19th of June, when Poland take on Senegal in their opening 2022 World Cup match.

Sportsbooks offer Poland as the favourites to win this fixture, but this will be a tough one to call as both teams look in pretty good form ahead of the match.

Poland were extremely impressive in their qualifying campaign for Qatar, and are the favourites to progress to the Round of 16 from this group.

In saying that, Senegal aren’t a team to take lightly and this could very well turn out to be a close match and so we wouldn't be suprised if it ended all sqaure after 90 minutes.

Poland may not have qualified for a World Cup since back in 2006, but they were extremely impressive in their qualifying campaign for Qatar 2022.

Nawalka’s men are still one of the stronger teams in the competition, but they haven’t had as much success as they hoped for in their pre-tournament friendlies.

Poland did beat South Korea in their last outing, but they also failed to have much of an impact in their previous 2 fixtures, losing to both Nigeria and Mexico.

Nawalka took the Polish team to the quarter-finals in Euro 2016, but they will need to play more consistently if they want to go all the way in World Cup 2022.

On paper they should just about beat Senegal, but the Polish defence really needs to step up and support their impressive forward players if they want to advance to the knockout stage.

Senegal have only ever appeared in a World Cup once, and manager Cisse has high hopes for his squad in Qatar as they take on the tournament for just the second time.

They may have come through the qualifiers for Qatar 2022 unbeaten, but Senegal only managed to walk away with 2 draw results from friendlies against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Uzbekistan.

We know that Senegal have some fantastic talent in the squad, but how far they can go will come down to how they perform against some of the stronger teams in their group.

It will be tough for Cisse’s men to beat Poland, but if they can win, they should be in with a decent chance of making it through to the next stages.

Senegal are a solid team, with decent pace in attack and on the wings that could easily throw some of their competitors and give them the advantage they need.
