Morocco at World Cup 2022

  • MANAGER: Herve Renard
  • CAPTAIN: Medhi Benatia
  • FIFA RANKING: 40
  • APPEARANCES: 4
  • WORLD CUP WINS: 0

Morocco are making their return to the 2022 World Cup after a 20 year absence, coming to Qatar with a fantastic qualifying run with 6 clean sheets in their 6 qualifying games.

Their best achievement in the competition was in 1986 when they were the first African side to make it to the Round of 16, having won a group made up of Portugal, Poland, and England.

Their return to the World Cup under new manager Renard, sees Morocco once again face Portugal, alongside Spain and Iran in their quest to make it through World Cup Group B.

With 2 extremely strong teams in Portugal and Spain, it will be a tough group for Morocco to progress through and they will struggle to make it to the Round of 16.

They have some great players and could easily finish ahead of Iran. but a 3rd place group finish is about the best they can expect unless there are some major upsets.
