Croatia at World Cup 2022

  • MANAGER: Zlatko Dalić
  • CAPTAIN: Luka Modrić
  • FIFA RANKING: 17
  • APPEARANCES: 4
  • WORLD CUP WINS: 0

Croatia secured their 5th qualification to the 2022 World Cup with a 4-1 aggregate win against Greece, in what will be their second-successive competition appearance.

Zlatko Dalić’s squad had their best result back in 1998 when they secured a 3rd place finish, and they’ll be hoping to improve on that result in Qatar.

The Croatians have been drawn in World Cup Group D alongside Nigeria, Argentina and Iceland, and it’s expected that they will progress through with group favourites Argentina.

Dalić has some talented players with Luka Modrić, Šime Vrsaljko, Dejan Lovren and Mario Mandžukić in the squad, but they will have to be on top form to progress in this group.

Nigeria may be their biggest challenge in the group, and it will be a close call on which of the two teams makes it through, even though bookmakers offer Croatia as second favourites.
